Boise Hawks!

We had a fun family outing this weekend. Christian got FREE Boise Hawk Baseball tickets from one of his patients so we headed to the game Saturday night.

It was fun. Lots of singing, chanting and lots of FOOD! They were throwing FREE hotdogs and giving away $1.00 popcorn. The boys begged for ice cream so we got a them some in a mini Boise Hawk Hat. 

 Treyson had to bring his baseball mitt. Trey is old enough to understand the game and cant wait until he gets to play real baseball instead of t-ball. The boys were so cute and so excited to be a real baseball game.

 We had a great time and it was so nice that it was ALL FREE! You cant beat that! 

We are slowly becoming more of Idahoans. We love it here! 

Fun {How to} Sushi Night

I was all ready for my sushi learning night! I know it says master of the grill but this night I learned how to be an awesome sushi chef. Everyone knows how much Christian and I love sushi and I have always wanted to learn. We were invited over to a friends for a huge sushi night.

 I have become great friends with my Filipino Neighbor. Everyone always ask if I am Filipino, or Japanese, or mexican or of Polynesian decent.  I take it all as compliment. I love different cultures and diversity. This means I exotic looking right? Anyway, this gal taught us all she knows about making yummy sushi! 

I just love her. 
Here we go.....

-The first thing you need to do to make your own sushi rolls at home is to buy some good quality Japanese rice. Japanese rice is a short grain rice that gets sticky when it's cooked. You can find it in the Asian section of your local grocery store or at Asian markets. Amazon.com is also a good source for Japanese rice.

-Making sushi rolls is much easier if you have a proper rice cooker. To cook the rice, just follow the instructions on the package, or it is typically 2 cups of water for every 1.5 cups of rice. Add some sushi vinegar and stir.

-The key is to keep your fingers really wet so have a small bowl with some water in it so you can dip your fingers while your handling the rice. To begin making the sushi rolls, first allow the rice to cool so it can be handled. Then take a sheet of nori (Japanese seaweed) and lay it down on a sushi rolling mat.

-Spread the sushi rice over the nori in a thin layer. Then add your fillings such as imitation and it can be anything crab meat, smoked salmon, shrimp, fish, ect. Other filling can include thinly sliced vegetables cream cheese, onions, ect, ect. Seriously don't be shy, anything goes.

-You can also make sushi rolls with the rice on the outside of the roll. Just place a sheet of plastic wrap or just put you sushi rolling mat in a zip lock bag, this will make it easier for rolling and washing. and turn the nori with the rice spread on it upside down. Your fillings will then be added to the clean side of the nori.

-After you have spread the rice and added the fillings, use the mat to roll it into a large sushi roll. Tucking and pulling is the key. Squeezing a little tighter every time you roll. Practice make perfect.

-The last step to making sushi is to cut the long sushi roll into 1 to 1.5 inch bite-size sushi rolls. You do this by wrapping the rolls in plastic wrap and then cutting it. You dont have to do that but it makes it easier.

-You can serve them anyway you like and decorate them as you wish. We did spicy mayo and eel sauce, then served it with soy sauce for dipping or wasabi.

And this is how you make homemade Sushi my friends! 

 We had a smorgasbord of yummy food. Homemade egg rolls, Rice Stick Noodles, and my Sweet and Sour chicken.

Unforgettable 4th of July Weekend!

Parade

This 4th of July was so FUN! Daddy had the day off so we started our fun with the Middleton Parade.

We were right by the firetruck so they surprised us with some serious water fun! 

The boys had a BLAST and got soaked. It was really hot so they did not mind being wet! 

We caught up with the Alders after. Love this gal. Bri! 

I thought it was cool that the fire department honored the fire fighters who lost their lives in Arizona.

Later that day we had a backyard BBQ at the Alders house. Super fun! See the goose egg on Porters forehead  Well at the bounce house earlier that day he decided to slide down the side of it and smacked his head really hard on the ground. OUCH!

Later that night we went to a little firework show at one of the neighbors. It gets dark so very late and our kids were already tired. We did not want to have to sit in traffic forever so we went this route instead. It was simple and sweet. The boy thought they were "too loud" but they enjoyed them. Kreed ended up crashing midway in to the show.

Fun in the Sun

On Saturday we loaded up headed to Lucky Peaks Sandy Point area. Its 5 bucks per and about 45 minuet drive. They have all sorts of waterfalls, sprayers, ect. Its very a very family friendly place.

 We had a little photo opt fun with the gals again. Don't ask, we got a little crazy! LOL! 

 Were pretty much awesome! 

Ha, I love that we caught me on camera picking my wedge. Its happens right? LOL! Classic. 

We had a little paddle boat that the kids had a blast in.  Treyson loved to help push. They water is really shallow so totally awesome for kids.

Kreed had so much fun. This was really his first time at the place like this. He loved the sand, water, toys, boats, ect. Surprisingly he stayed awake the whole time without getting fussy. He had so much fun! 

 Christian had to work so he joined the fun a little later. We enjoyed our time together with our friends and family.
PS. Don't you just love the crack bum pic of Porter? He seriously cracks (literally) us up. No matter what swim suits he wears he always has a plumbers bum....haha!

We seriously had such a wonderful time. Really a 4th of July to remember! 

This 4th of July was unforgettable too because this 4th I really reflected on the freedoms we do have and often take for granted. The most important being the freedom of religion. Today as I bore my testimony I was so thankful that I could stand and bare witness of my Savior and say how I feel without being chastised for it. Our country is sadly changing and it makes me scared on what kind of America my children will grow up in. I absolutely despise the people who run this country---having said that, I am still proud to be an American! I so thankful to have the Gospel and know they will never lead us astray.  I can find hope in the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this evil, evil world.

One Nation Under God- So very blessed to live in this Country and be an American. I am thankful for those whom fought and our still fighting for our freedoms that we do enjoy.
