1. Our basement flooded!
Oh this is our worst nightmare! Right before bed Kreed had spit up all over his blanket that he is really attached too. I hurried and threw it in the wash then the dryer before I put him to bed. I knew he would wake up for his blanket so while I was feeding him Christan got up to use the bathroom. I asked him if he would go downstairs and get Kreed's blanket out of the dryer. All of s sudden he comes up stairs in a panic saying, "the basement is flooded in water!" I hurried and finished feeding Kreed and put him down and sure enough our basements had 4-5 inches of water in it! It was completely flooded and we had no clue where the water is coming in! We thought a pipe must have busted or something. This is just the thing we need right before we moved...UGH!! There Christian and I were at 3:30 am pushing freezing cold water to our sump pump to try and see if we could get some of it drained. After about an hour of that we got a phone call from call from Bill since he had read my status on facebook. He told us to go by walmart and get a snake to see if it was the drain. We were hoping that was what it was but we did not know. Christian ran to Walmart and came back and snaked it but it only seemed to help a little. By this time it was morning and we were beyond frustrated.
Christian and I honestly were both in tears thinking why does this stuff have to happen? Curse you Palmer! I swear we could not leave our Iowa experience with out another Price crisis! UGH! It seems we have had too many while we were here! Anyway, Christian got on the phone to our Home Teacher and I called my Visiting teachers. After that we had phone call after phone call on what everyone could do to help. Within hours we had help thanks to the beloved members of our ward! We were literally rescued that day by the Davenport 1st ward. Hand fulls of people came ready to help with our flood disaster! People brought tools, shock vacs, fans and heaters!
This is

The good news was the plumber got in to see us right away and was able to take care of the problem. It was not a busted pipe thank goodness! We walked away with the 65$$ bill with the plumber. Our out going pipe was clogged causing all the water rising. Seriously it was such a blessing! The Plumber cut us a huge deal since were students. Another tender mercy from the Lord.
We had someone who worked on the wood that had water damage, then we had meals come to our that night and the next! Our basement now looks brand new like there was never a flood! We were humbled as we watched such willing and Christlike service. People had rendered and gave of themselves to us that day for sure. This is the mantra of the LDS faith--"when you are in the service of your God you are in the service of you fellow beings!" That was shown ten fold in our hours of distress. Even though this was a huge set back for us it amazing on how blessed we felt being served by so many and giving of their time to make sure everything turned out ok. Thanks so much to our Ward, we love you guys so very much!
2. We packed, packed and packed--were still not done
Oh yes packing is sure fun...LOL! It amazing how much harder it is with kids. I remember with Treyson it seemed difficult with but with 3 kids--the process goes very very slow! I'm not sure what the kids think of it even though we have explained it to them 1000 times. They are super excited to move to Idaho though. Keeping them entertained is the hardest part while your trying to stay busy. Luckily their Christmas presents are still doing this for me and well Kreed--I have to let him just cry sometimes if I have already started something. For the most part they are have been pretty good though.
Thank you Skylanders Giants Game for being there for me when I needed you most!;)
Good thing he cute huh after he cries for while:)
3. We painted, cleaned and organized--were still not done!
We are getting our house ready to sell. Unfortunately we were misguided and lied to a little bit when we bought this house so that kinda puts a damper on things. I dislike greatly dishonestly especially when we have to deal with it. Ill spare the details. Having said that we are still looking up and just going through this annoying and grueling process. Basically since we have kids its impossible to keep our house spotless and that it would probably sell faster empty. All of our rooms were painted bright and flashy colors so we decided to go with more neutral-- a good selling point. Daddy got as much done as he could before he left but were still not that close, Well the organizing part. Its hard to put half of your stuff away especially when your using it to "show" your house. We put a new water heater, furnace and insulation in the house. Were still worried about our roof but we do not nor have we had the funds to fix it. 2 roofers have looked at it and said it still has about 5 years left so were hoping we can sell with out the roof being done. If we don't sell it we will definitely rent the home until we do. Honestly we are not sad we bought. It was great and we loved our house. We will miss it. I just hope and pray we can sell it. The realtor seems confident since the market is so good right now--fingers crossed!
4. Daddy left for Meridian for 3 weeks!
Yes, we dropped Daddy off at the bus stop. We played at the bus stop before he had to board. Yes he took the Greyhound bus since it all we could afford. He took it all the way to Rock Springs Wyoming where Mom and Dad Cutler would pick him up. He is borrowing one of their cars so he can go to Meridian and get his management and business training done. We are so thankful for their support and help. Christian will come back the week of Graduation to get things packed up, graduate and then move us all the way to Idaho. The boys are I are holding down the house pretty good. I would lie if I said I did not feel overwhelmed. I am always up for a challenge and am used to doing things and getting things done on my own. Big projects pertaining to moving though seem impossible with 3 little ones. I told Christian that I was just going to try my best. Now that he gone I have all the responsibility and it already has me run down. I know it will all work out and I have got my eye on the prize. T minus 26 days until we are DONE!!
5. Church was cancelled because of an ice storm.
Yes only in Iowa. Church was cancelled yesterday due to the freezing rain. In a way this was a blessing since I was up with all 3 of my boys. One who was hungry, another that had some potty issues and another that was not feeling to swell. I hoped I could catch up on sleep but when your a Mom to more then 1 child it seems there is no such thing..LOL! It was a blessing in disguise. We had a pretty low key Sabbath and we got to facetime with Dad:)
Anyway, that was our crazy crazy week! I am wanting things to settle down soon but I feel things are only going to get crazier the closer we get to graduation. I know the Lord is mindful of us and we are of his blessings in our life.
Until next time...
