Chris and I goal since we have been back from Jacksonville is to attend the Temple once a month. My great friend Natalie agreed to watch Trey once a month so we can go....Thanks Natty!! We wish we could go more but with school, work and being parents once a month is as best we can do right now. We love the Temple! We grow more every time we go. We see how much our Heavenly Father loves us to give us these wonderful blessing of the Temple. It truly is Heaven on Earth and you feel that when you go. Its a beautiful safe place and an escape from the world.
I love General Conference. It is a chance to be uplifted, edified, and instructed. I really felt the message this time was about HOPE in hard times! We did not get to attend any of the sessions but we watched them on our television and even in our P.J.'s which is the best part!! Ill give you some highlights of some of my favorite talks.
L. Tom Perry gave a great talk on stress and how it can get the best of us and how the storm will pass. How we should save for a rainy day and live with-in our means. My favorite thing he said was "A well managed family does not pay interest they earn it."
Silvia Allred spoke of missionary work among the Church. She told her conversion story which touched me deeply. How the Gospel was a compelling force in her life and how she felt the urgency to share....I still feel that way!!! How missionary work will save generations and the message of Christ is the most important gift to give someone!
I love Deiter E. Uckhtdorf! He spoke of how faith can overcome fear. How we need to be moving even in trialed times. There is an infinite power of hope and can feel our lives with happiness. He remind us of "Hope of Israel!"
Robert D. Hales spoke of how we are Christians and when our faith is challenged how we should still be Christ-like in all we do! The Savior was mocked and still showed us how to have kindness. We need to have Christian Courage!!!!!
President Packer said, Be a good citizen!!! We need to be law abiding worthy citizens.
I was impressed with Quninten L. Cook. He talked of sometimes the things that are best for us can be bitter and how sometimes bitter things are more desirable. How we are touched by the hardships of the early saints. We need to find someone who is having a hard time and do something for them and that will bring us happiness.
President Eryring was probably one of my top favorites. Be a peacemaker! Pride is our enemy. Difference can be seen as opportunity's rather then a fight. The atonement of Chris brings out the same in all of us. Be kind.
Elder Holland talk I also enjoyed very much. How there are angles here on this earth, among us, our fellow men. How we can be an angel in someones life. There are angles both earthly and immortal. When we are down we can feel the angles of heaven surround us. We as saints can be angles in peoples lives.
Our dear Prophet Thomas S. Monson spoke of Change, how nothing is constant. Opportunities come and that we should just find joy in the journey. Lessons in life help us see what is important and what is not. " If we pile up a lot of tomorrows we will have a lot of empty yesterdays." Life goes on and one day you will wake up and and there will be no messes to clean from your kids and you will miss it...that really hit home!!! We should not focus on what is missing because one day there will be no tomorrows.
I am so grateful for this Gospel in our lives! Isn't it just wonderful?!? It speaks truth, Faith, and charity. Christ is our redeemer and my best friend. I testify that he lives because I felt his spirit in my soul. I love my family and how being a mother has made me grow into a better daughter of God. I know this is the true Gospel and I am so thankful to be a part of this great work.
