Our move to Idaho {The Ugly, Bad, and Good)

Some of you know the through facebook the gist of what happened on our move but now I am going to break it down for you in raw detail. We have lived here for a month now so I know it's overdue so sit tight.

WARNING: While reading you may get sad, depressed and feel sorry for us but just make sure you read all the way until the end:)

THE UGLY
**Christian's ER Visit: While packing the last thing of our house really it was the the last of what he had in the house before it was completely empty Christian slipped and fell on the ramp and busted his lip open pretty bad. Let me remind you we were packing during a huge winter Storm! Super fun let me tell you--NOT! Anyways here he was covered in blood and saying, "I think I better go to the emergency room and get stitches." Seriously we were ready to just get going on the road since leaving in the afternoon turned into leaving late at night. You don't realize what goes into moving out of house. What we thought would take us 3-4 hours ended up taking us like 8-9 hours! It was exhausting. Anyway, off we go to the ER and luckily there was not a long wait so he got in right away. Christian's Mom Beth was driving with me in the van to help take care of the kids so she slept with the kids while we did the whole ER scene. He ended up with 3 stitches and tentaus shot. We were kind of mad that they did not just have the individual tetanus shot he had to get the 3 in one DTAP full of toxic crap. We would have augured it but we just wanted out of there. His poor lip was so swollen and it hurt so bad. I honestly felt so bad for him. Just his luck that the first week at his job that he would have the hugest fat and black and blue lip..haha!
**Our Moving Truck Broke down: Seriously no joke! I could not believe it! We were only like an hour in a half into our trip (a little past IA city) when I see Christan's hazards go on (we were following behind in the van) and he pulls off to the side of the road so I follow. He called me on my cell and said, "you wont believe this but I think we are really cursed...the moving truck just died on me!" Really? I asked how could this be. We really did not know all we know is that when he would push the gas petal nothing would happen. So we call Budget trucking companies customer service and they said help was on the way. After an hour and half still no one showed so we called again and they said someone was on their way. We waited for 3 hours in the cold with 3 crying and tired kids. By this time it was about 2:30 in the morning. When help got there they said the the computer in the truck was completely dead so that he was not even able to fix it! Seriously? So we call customer service and tell them and they told us to get a hotel and then we would go from there in the morning.
We roll in a tiny hotel around 4 am and try and get some sleep. The next morning they call us and tell us that since its the weekend they do not have a truck available until Monday so we stayed stuck in a tiny hotel room for 2 1/2 days. Mind you Christian was supposed to be back in the office on Monday and Beth was supposed to be back in school. So we had to call and make arrangements to cover things/ect. It was just a complete mess. Oh did I mention I only packed for 2 days and where was all our other stuff? Oh yes in the broke down moving truck! It was hard trying to entertain the kids with nothing but luckily they had a pool!  Honestly we are feeling helpless, frustrated and tired. We wished my family could catch a break! We honestly are laughing at ourselves because what else could we really do! How more crazy could our lives be?  It was our reality:( We were trying to stay positive and hope this Palmer curse leaves us in IA.

Oh yes and did I mention that Christian's  and I 6th anniversary happened to be this day too...LOL! Last year it was spent in a romantic hospital room with curb side wheelchair service and this year well topped that one for sure. We really know how to keep the memories alive! Definitely and anniversary we will NEVER forget...haha!

Anyways, back to the truck. We finally got word that they had a new truck for us and that now they were going to have to transfer all our belongings into a new truck. The truck took us 3 fulls days to pack so it was going to be interesting. When we went to start the new truck guess what? Well it would not start!! For real? Was this really happening? We just wanted to move to Idaho, was that too much to ask? Since it was really really cold the truck was taking a bit to start and we made sure to check the computer and all the rest before we opted to use that truck. Well now it was time to reload the truck. FUN! They only had 2 workers helping us reload it so we did not get out of there until around 6pm. This made for a short driving day which put us back another day. UGH! We spent the night in a cheap hotel in Nebraska and woke up the next morning to head to Wyoming. We drove though a major snow storm this day. We stopped at Mom and Dad C's for dinner and we got showered and did some laundry. We couldn't not thank them enough. It was a nice change from the traveling scene. We then traveled to Christians Uncle house where we spent the night and Beth drove home from there.

Just a big shout out to my Mother in law! She did an awesome job driving and did most of it. Ok all of it, because I had 3 needy boys that wanted their Mama. Without her I don't know how we would have done it. Thank you Mama Beth!

**Aunt Flow happened to be in town: LOL, I know TMI and I will spare you all the details on this one. Lets just say it was very convenient that it happened to fall during all this moving drama! I was unprepared and had to go buy new clothes. It made the rest of our trip very uncomfortable and not so fun for me:/

**Our check card got cancelled: When we found out when our trip would actual take place we called the bank and told them our trip details and just to let them know we would be traveling cross country. Well mid morning when we had to fill up a little outside of Tremonten our card would not work! We were wondering what was up since we specifically called before so this very thing would not happen. Anyway, after an hour on the phone for some reason they would not unblock our card. They kept telling us that our vocal password that we set up years ago was incorrect. Well it was so long ago I guess we could not remember it. It was so frustrating since we proved it was us and they had record of us calling in but still they would not unblock our card. If you wondering why we did not have 2 check cards it was because Christian's card expired and so a new card was being sent to our new address. I know perfect timing. Anyway, long story short we remembered where we stashed the cash that we got for graduation and that money was able to fill up the moving truck and the van so we could make it to Idaho. When I finally was able to go into a bank and prove who I was, I guess they put a block on our card because the gas station tried to charge our card with two 500 dollar purchases! Don't ask me why but that is why without our vocal password they would not unblock the card. I guess I'm grateful that they were looking out for us but in the moment we were pretty ticked off! LOL!
The Bad

**Money: I hate talking about money however its reality so here goes. When they gave us the new moving truck they failed to mention that it only got about 2-3 miles to the gallon in diesel fuel!! Talk about making our move costing almost double what it was supposed to! Also they only reimbursed us 500 dollars from our move which did not even cover half of the damage. When everything happened with Kreed both Christian and I did not work for almost 3 1/2 months. This wiped out all our savings because we had to live off that when we were both out of work. Yes Kreed was totally worth every single penny but ever since then its been hard to catch up. We were so excited for our tax return this year and thought that we were finally going to be able to save again but oh how that was not the case at all. With how much our moved cost and everything we had to do here with housing, ect it was completely gone. Seriously it was like a quick punch to the stomach. It hard when you budget and think you plan out all the details and then the end result looks like nothing you planned. Right now we are only on a small base income until Christian builds his patient base so ya we are feeling stressed about money and I hate that feeling. Money does not buy you everything but it buys you choices and right now are choices are limited greatly and were feeling trapped. I know it will all work out but it is stressful.

**Broken Belongings: On our move a lot of our things broke especially after they re-packed the truck. It stinks because we dont really have the money to replace items right now so our house looks pretty sorry...LOL! It been hard to find where to put stuff since it was like 2 bookshelves, a dresser and our bed parts. Lots of thing are being help up by or together by duck tape...LOL! Pretty sad actually but what can you do? We tried to get money for all our broken stuff but they told us they would not and that we could go to small claims court. Well, we do not have the time nor the money to do that so we just have to take it as it is I guess. Christian is still trying to fix some of the things but its not too promising....LOL! So don't judge our house when you come over:/

**Our House in Iowa has not sold yet: Yes, our house in Iowa has not sold yet and its been pretty depressing. We have had our 3rd offer fall through. One of them did not get enough financing, just fell short of what we needed to sell our house for to break even! Then another one could not get any financing and then another ended up choosing another house because she wanted a specific school district. Honestly we were crossing our fingers that one of these offers would go through but in the end they all did not. We had planned on having our huge savings from our tax return be our back up to keep up on the mortgage until it was sold but obviously that plan did not work out either. Luckily family is helping us until we sell it since we have a mortgage there and renting here. UGH! So we are praying so hard that we sell it soon.

Its very difficult when you are doing all the right things. Paying your tithing, going to church, Scriptures, FHE, praying, service, budgeting, managing, ect, ect and EVERYTHING seems to be working against you or not in your favor!! Not matter how much we planned everything out in our heads it went completely in the opposite direction. You often ask your self what you are doing wrong or how can you be better your life so these things wont happen. Its hard not to get down, cry or just plain feel sorry about your whole situation. Its also hard when it's out of your control you just feel hopeless.

I know Satan wants us to think this way and forget about how much God has already blessed us. When Christian and I were able to attend the Temple before we left we know that Idaho is where we were supposed to go and be. We had a firm confirmation of our decision we were making for our families future. When we were going through all of this we doubted our certainty. We doubted our revelation. "The greater the struggle the greater the reward." It's seem like every time Christian and I are doing the right thing and following the spirit is when Satan works the hardest on us giving us trial after trial. I read something the other day that says even when your doing your very best in life "its still an uphill climb." Satan likes to work on the righteous (not saying were perfect--far from) the most! It totally stinks and I have just felt we have been bullied by him! We are praying and asking God what he would have us learn from all these set backs we're facing. The Light at the end of the tunnel though its there, seems so far away. 2 steps forward.. One step back.... We just keep moving forward.

Having said all that I want to focus on the GOOD because we do have much to be thankful for. I am honestly completely humbled. It amazing when you go through experience like this and still in all the bitterness feel the love from your Heavenly Father. I have learned that swallowing pride is hard, jeez so very hard! Once you overcome it though, and help is given, there is a great sense of relief and peace that comes from above. All of a sudden you are full of gratitude instead of malice. We feel like we are being refined through are hardships we have faced here.

THE GOOD

**We love living in Idaho!**
We love the Mountains, atmosphere, parks and recreation, the city we live in, all the shops, ect, ect. I have even found all local farmers to buy from when purchasing the main things like...raw milk, pastured eggs, cheese, grass-fed meats, ect. Its seriously awesome. Oh and did I mention we are only 20 minuets away from the gorgeous Boise Temple?? YES!! It so beautiful and amazing.

**We LOVE our ward and Friends.**
Our ward pretty much is made up of our huge Blackhawk subdivision and a couple other smaller ones. We love our neighborhood and our ward. They already called me back in Young Women's as the Beehive advisor. YIPPEE! We felt welcomed from day one and have already made such great friends, not only in our ward but in others too. Our ward has a play group once a week, a workout group, craft group and a cooking group. We also have our own ward garden and orchard! Talk about amazing. We seriously have the best ward! Also, just Idahoans know how to give hospitality that is for sure.
We are in pretty humble circumstances right now and friends and ward members have given to us so generously. We feel beyond blessed to be here. God put us in the right spot.

Fruit and Veggie basket given to us by my friends Lila. She is such a sweetheart.

**Dr. Christian is doing awesome**
Christian is loving his job. Seriously this man was born to be a Chiropractor. The doctor he works for (Dr. Stirckland) has been such an awesome mentor and is totally setting us up for success. He always says Christian exceeds his expectations. He is right on track for his goals and set doubling or even triple our income pretty soon. We are starting off very humble but it kicking off to a great start. I am so proud of him. Everyday he comes home he so excited about his job as a Chiropractor. Yes the hours are long. He gets up at 5am and heads to the gym and sometimes does not make it home until around 630 or 7pm! I know it going to be worth it though because he seriously is SO good at what he does, I know it will pay off.
We go visit Daddy office once a month for our family check ups. We like to goof around a bit while were at it!
Christian has already been to some seminars and has some more coming up in the next couple months. Better Life Chiropractic is an advocate for always learning and growing in the practice. So he gets to travel about once a month to some sort of a different chiropractic conference.

I have been helping at the Marketing Events when I can. I love talking to people about Chiropractic and their health...how they can improve their well being with Chiropractic Care. It been really awesome for me. I love being involved especially when it helps the office and my husband out.
One day we booked 16 new patients in just a 1 hour period! When we do all day even we usually get about 40-50! Seriously its such a busy office and fun to be apart of the action!
Though we feel like we have endured so much and been through hades with our move up here, we have much hope.
Were are keeping on. Moving forward. We have a set vision. We know this too shall pass. We know we are blessed no matter what happens.

PS. We also know that we will NEVER be moving cross country again....YAY!!
